Daily leads terms

Last updated 19 October 2026. How we handle your details is in our privacy notice.

Who we are

Hygiene Index and its daily leads service are run by Source 120 (source120.com), contactable at hello@hygieneindex.co.uk. "We" means us; "you" means the business that subscribes.

What you get

For each council area you choose, a morning email listing food businesses newly rated 0, 1 or 2 (or "improvement required" in Scotland) and food businesses newly listed and awaiting a first inspection, with a CSV of the same. We only email on days with something new. You also get a private feed page showing the last two weeks, with downloads and your billing settings.

Business customers only

By subscribing you confirm you are acting for a business, not as a consumer. Consumer rights such as the 14-day cancellation period for distance contracts therefore do not apply, though you can cancel at any time as described below.

Price, trial and payment

The price is £15 a month for each council area, as shown when you sign up. New subscriptions start with a 14-day free trial, one per business. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged.

Payment is taken monthly in advance by card through Stripe. We never see or store your card details. If you change the number of areas, the price is adjusted pro rata on your next invoice.

We may change the price with at least 30 days' notice by email. If you don't want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your feed page. The feed then continues until the end of the period you have paid for and stops. We do not refund part months, except where the law requires us to.

Where the data comes from

Ratings and business details come from the Food Standards Agency's open data, published under the Open Government Licence v3.0. We are independent and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the FSA or any council.

We pass on the data as published and do not guarantee that it is complete, accurate or current. Councils can change, correct or withdraw records, and a rating can change after a re-inspection or an appeal. Check the official record at ratings.food.gov.uk before relying on a rating.

How you may use the leads

You may use the leads in your own business, including to contact the businesses listed. You may not resell, publish or share the feed or the CSV as a list, or give anyone else access to your feed link.

When you contact businesses you are responsible for doing so lawfully. That includes the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (for example, marketing emails and texts to sole traders and partnerships need their consent, and sales calls must be screened against the TPS and CTPS) and UK GDPR, because some businesses are individuals. You decide how you use the data, so you are its controller for that use.

You must not suggest that you are from, or approved by, the FSA, a council or Hygiene Index, and you must not present a rating misleadingly, for example by implying an old rating is current.

We may suspend or end your subscription, without refund, if you break these rules.

Availability

We aim to send the feed every morning that there are new leads, but we can't promise the service will never be interrupted, for example if the FSA's data is late or unavailable. If we fail to provide the feed for a significant period, tell us and we'll credit or refund that period. If we ever stop the service, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any period paid for and not provided.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for fraud. Otherwise, we are not liable for any loss of profit, business, revenue or opportunity, or any indirect loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change affects you materially, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then if you do not agree.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
